Donald Trump has had an active second term, but recent survey data suggests he has yet to significantly improve his standing with the American public.<\/strong><\/h1>\n

More than a year has passed since Trump returned to the White House for a second time, and his presidency has once again been marked by rapid activity.<\/p>\n

After resuming duties in the Oval Office, the 79-year-old moved quickly to introduce changes across a wide range of areas, including immigration policy, international trade, and even updates to the White House\u2019s appearance.<\/p>\n

Trump has also stated that his administration has been working to reduce international conflicts and prevent large-scale global instability.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he has taken a firm stance on international relations, including strong rhetoric involving several regions, such as Iran, Mexico, Venezuela, and Greenland, which is connected to a NATO-aligned nation.<\/p>\n

In recent months, Trump has drawn criticism from European partners due to repeated statements suggesting the United States should take control of the Denmark-linked autonomous territory.<\/p>\n

Officials within his administration have argued that maintaining influence over the region is necessary to prevent growing involvement from major global powers.<\/p>\n

Regarding immigration, Trump has faced public concern over enforcement practices in some communities.<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Supporters, however, argue that these actions reflect his campaign commitments and a focus on border security.<\/p>\n

Public reaction across several areas appears to be reflected in a January AP-NORC poll measuring overall approval.<\/p>\n

The survey found that roughly four out of ten U.S. adults approve of Trump\u2019s performance as president.<\/p>\n

This figure remains largely unchanged from polling conducted in March 2025, shortly after he returned to office.<\/p>\n

As of January 8, 2026, the poll reported that 59 percent of adults disapprove of Trump\u2019s job performance, while 40 percent expressed approval.<\/strong><\/h1>\n

On several major policy areas, a majority of respondents also expressed dissatisfaction.<\/p>\n

AP-NORC poll results on key issues show the following:<\/p>\n

Handling of the economy: 37 percent approve, while 62 percent disapprove
\nHandling of immigration: 38 percent approve, while 61 percent disapprove
\nHandling of foreign affairs: 37 percent approve, while 61 percent disapprove
\nHandling of trade negotiations: 37 percent approve, while 61 percent disapprove<\/p>\n
