“I have never been friends with Epstein,” she said. She also rejected more serious allegations, stating: “I am not Epstein’s victim,” while denying any knowledge of his crimes or involvement in his activities.<\/p>\n

Documents released by the DOJ include an email sent by Melania with the subject line “HI!” The record showed it was sent on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at 7:40:52 PM.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the message, she\u00a0wrote<\/a>: “Nice story about JE in NY mag. You look great on the picture. How was Palm Beach? Give me a call when you are back in NY.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A\u00a0separate DOJ file<\/a>\u00a0contained a reply attributed to Ghislaine with the subject line “Re: HI!” In that message, Ghislaine wrote: “Sweet pea – thanks for your message. I am on my way back to NY. Plans have changed slightly. I will be in NY on Friday and will try and call though.”<\/p>\n

The document included a date field for Ghislaine Maxwell’s reply, but it displayed what appeared to be an unusual timestamp: “Sat, 01 Jan 4501 05:00:00 +0000.”<\/p>\n

Despite the existence of that exchange, questions remain about what prompted the First Lady to speak out now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to PBS News, the First Lady\u2019s remarks stood out for their rarity and tone, drawing attention from White House correspondent Liz Landers.<\/p>\n
