\u201cI\u2019m 34, childfree by\u00a0choice<\/strong>, and honestly thriving. I\u2019ve got a solid career, a paid-off car, no debt, and zero regrets. My parents? Not so thrilled. They\u2019ve been on my case for years about \u2018carrying on the family \u00a0line\u2019 like we\u2019re royalty or\u00a0something.<\/p>\n

Anyway, last year they dropped the bomb that they were leaving everything\u2014their house, savings, all of\u00a0it\u2014to my\u00a0cousin. Why? Because\u00a0he<\/i>\u00a0has kids and\u00a0I don\u2019t. Apparently, reproducing is\u00a0the price of\u00a0admission to\u00a0their version of\u00a0a\u00a0\u2018legacy.\u2019<\/p>\n

What they\u00a0didn\u2019t<\/i>\u00a0know was that I\u2019d been quietly saving to\u00a0buy them a\u00a0retirement home.
