My\u00a0brothers are all pigs. We\u00a0had a\u00a0very traditional house where girls cleaned and washed dishes from the time we\u00a0were old enough to\u00a0walk and stand on\u00a0chairs, and my\u00a0brothers never did anything and as\u00a0adults cannot even turn a\u00a0washer\u00a0on.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m very much resenting how\u00a0I felt like\u00a0I had to\u00a0raise my\u00a0own father and how holidays and weekends were always spent with my\u00a0brothers and dads laying around and\u00a0us cleaning. Even Christmas they got to\u00a0play with their toys and we\u00a0went in\u00a0the kitchen. I\u00a0do not care about excuses like \u2018I\u00a0was never taught\u2019, we\u00a0are all adults now and they can YouTube and Google whatever they do\u00a0not know.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0learned how to\u00a0patch walls, change tires, change oil, etc. All the gendered stuff\u00a0I was never taught so\u00a0I\u00a0do not see why he\u00a0can\u2019t as\u00a0well. My\u00a0brother got put out by\u00a0his girlfriend after they just had their first kid because he\u00a0does not help with anything.<\/p>\n
Since staying with\u00a0me, I\u00a0have forced him to\u00a0do\u00a0stuff. When he\u00a0first moved in\u00a0my\u00a0house went from my\u00a0tidy, clean utopia to\u00a0a\u00a0disgusting mess. He\u00a0would spit sunflower seeds on\u00a0the flood, hide his food and dirty dishes around the house, spit chewed gum behind the coffee machine feet from the trash can, hide snack food everywhere, leave his dirty clothes everywhere even on\u00a0the living room floor, etc.<\/p>\n
Even when he\u00a0ordered food for himself, he\u00a0would eat at\u00a0the table then leave it\u00a0for me\u00a0to\u00a0put away for him. Anytime he\u00a0took anything out of\u00a0the fridge he\u00a0would leave it\u00a0on\u00a0the table and would often leave the fridge open. I\u00a0am not joking, I\u00a0found maggots 3\u00a0times from his mess.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0lost it\u00a0and told him to\u00a0change his behavior totally or\u00a0get out. Well, he\u00a0started doing stuff but as\u00a0badly as\u00a0he\u00a0could. He\u00a0would put bowls in\u00a0the dish washer so\u00a0they would be\u00a0filled with nasty water, mop with the same water for days on\u00a0end leaving it\u00a0smelling of\u00a0rot, do\u00a0his laundry by\u00a0putting it\u00a0in\u00a0the washer and leaving it\u00a0for me\u00a0to\u00a0finish, put food away by\u00a0throwing it\u00a0all over the fridge spilling food everywhere. The best was when he\u00a0put the syrup away upside down on\u00a0the top shelf with no\u00a0lid on\u00a0coating my\u00a0entire fridge in\u00a0syrup that took hours to\u00a0clean, etc. Then he\u00a0would say \u201cI\u00a0am trying you are just being a\u00a0witch.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0lost my\u00a0temper, and\u00a0I know\u00a0I couldn\u2019t leave him on\u00a0the street, so\u00a0I divided the house. The cabinet doors all have locks from the previous owners, so\u00a0I got him from dishes from goodwill and forbad him from using any of\u00a0my\u00a0dishes so\u00a0he\u00a0is\u00a0eating off his filthy dishes.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0made it\u00a0very clear that anything left on\u00a0the floors (clothing, etc) gets a\u00a0one-day grace period then it\u00a0will be\u00a0thrown away. Same with the few dishes he\u00a0has as\u00a0he\u00a0would leave them in\u00a0the sink until they started to\u00a0grow mold. I\u00a0started locking my\u00a0bathroom door and he\u00a0has to\u00a0use the one in\u00a0the basement which\u00a0I refuse to\u00a0clean. If\u00a0his clothes are in\u00a0the washer for more than 8\u00a0hours and\u00a0I need to\u00a0use\u00a0it, I\u00a0dump them wet on\u00a0his bed.<\/p>\n
Any trash he\u00a0leaves laying around goes on\u00a0his bed. If\u00a0he\u00a0orders food and gets up\u00a0and leaves his leftovers, I\u00a0leave them to\u00a0rot, then they get thrown away (though twice he\u00a0has left food out overnight and came out and started angry eating it\u00a0whilst glaring at\u00a0me. Both times he\u00a0got food sickness). He\u00a0destroyed my\u00a0fridge again putting juice in\u00a0upside down with the lid barely on\u00a0once again destroying my\u00a0food, so\u00a0I mopped it\u00a0up\u00a0with towels and dumped the towels and all my\u00a0ruined food on\u00a0his bed then put a\u00a0lock on\u00a0the fridge.<\/p>\n
He\u00a0hates me\u00a0and says I\u00a0am terrorizing him. I\u00a0say\u00a0I was forced to\u00a0mother him as\u00a0a\u00a0child but was never given the parental control to\u00a0actually teach him how life works.<\/p>\n
And since my\u00a0brothers used my\u00a0childhood to\u00a0treat me\u00a0like a\u00a0maid, I\u00a0will no\u00a0longer parent them. My\u00a0view\u00a0is, some lessons have to\u00a0be\u00a0learned painfully. I\u00a0will not gentle parent a\u00a0grown man who cannot close a\u00a0fridge door.
