Hollywood legend Robert Duvall has died. The acclaimed actor passed away at home on Sunday at the age of 95, according to his wife.<\/p>\n

Duvall, who won\u00a0an Oscar<\/strong>\u00a0for Tender Mercies (1983), built a career that stretched across seven decades, earning praise for unforgettable performances in classics like The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, To Kill a Mockingbird, and many more. His r\u00e9sum\u00e9 also included iconic roles in The Godfather Part II, The Conversation, Network, and The Natural.<\/p>\n

His wife, Luciana, confirmed the news in a Facebook post on Monday morning,\u00a0writing<\/a>: “Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She\u00a0added<\/a>: “His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented.” Luciana also asked the public for privacy as the family mourns and honors his memory.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

What a legend.\u201d And another one\u00a0added<\/a>: \u201cThis one hits hard. Such a great man and actor.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Even in his later years, Duvall didn\u2019t talk like someone ready to slow down. In a past interview while promoting 12 Mighty Orphans, he made it clear retirement wasn\u2019t on his mind.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Asked what he enjoyed most about being 90, he\u00a0replied<\/a>, “Love the most? I don’t know if I love any of it, but day to day with my wonderful wife” Luciana Pedraza. He\u00a0added<\/a>, “She takes care of me, and I have good friends, and try to work out and keep in some kind of shape.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
