I\u00a0assumed he\u00a0was joking, because we\u2019d known each other for 5\u00a0minutes, so\u00a0I said yes.<br \/>\nHe\u00a0was not joking. He\u00a0immediately began yelling something in\u00a0Vietnamese, then grabs my\u00a0hand and starts waving it\u00a0around in\u00a0the air. Within minutes, we\u00a0were surrounded by\u00a0dozens of\u00a0people who are all cheering and smiling and shaking my\u00a0hand. He\u00a0then took me\u00a0to\u00a0his house to\u00a0introduce me\u00a0to\u00a0my\u00a0future in-laws.<br \/>\nI\u00a0broke that poor boy\u2019s heart when\u00a0I left for another city the next day<\/li>\n<li>We\u00a0decided to\u00a0push further in\u00a0a\u00a0day than we\u00a0planned\u00a0to. So\u00a0we\u00a0needed to\u00a0find a\u00a0place to\u00a0sleep over asap. Ended up\u00a0finding this small unknown place out in\u00a0the middle of\u00a0nowhere. Sitting there and recovering from the 9-hour drive, we\u00a0had some surprise visitors.<br \/>\nA\u00a0huge herd of\u00a0elephants just walked right past\u00a0us to\u00a0the small water hole in\u00a0the middle of\u00a0the campsite and started drinking water and bathing themselves. More and more elephants would just keep coming and going, pretty much through the whole night.<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0met my\u00a0boyfriend whilst on\u00a0a\u00a0study abroad program in\u00a0his country. Definitely felt from the beginning that there was something special there. When he\u00a0dropped me\u00a0at\u00a0the airport for my\u00a0flight home, we\u00a0were both devastated, and it\u00a0was obvious that wasn\u2019t the end.<br \/>\nWe\u00a0began texting and FaceTiming regularly, and he\u00a0visited me\u00a0one month after\u00a0I came home. We\u00a0became official and since then we\u2019ve been flying back and forth seeing each other. It\u00a0is\u00a0the most beautiful relationship I\u2019ve ever had, and we\u00a0are now planning to\u00a0close the distance<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0was traveling by\u00a0plane. And then a\u00a0massive snowstorm hit. A\u00a0huge blizzard hit the Midwest, and\u00a0I was stuck in\u00a0another city.<br \/>\nSo, the airline put me\u00a0up\u00a0for free in\u00a0a\u00a0fancy hotel in\u00a0the center. I\u00a0had food and drinks delivered to\u00a0my\u00a0room, which the airline also paid for. And the next morning, when the weather cleared, they put me\u00a0in\u00a0first class because there weren\u2019t enough seats in\u00a0economy<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0told the guy sitting next to\u00a0me\u00a0on\u00a0the plane that\u00a0I was traveling to\u00a0Florida to\u00a0propose to\u00a0my\u00a0girlfriend. I\u00a0guess word got around because when\u00a0I was getting off the plane, I\u00a0had a\u00a0bunch of\u00a0people wishing me\u00a0good luck. She said yes!<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0once went to\u00a0Nevada, and met someone amazing there while at\u00a0a\u00a0concert. We\u00a0loved each other\u2019s vibes so\u00a0much that we\u00a0held hands and left the concert together. We\u00a0hung out all night and kissed before we\u00a0said goodbye. Thought that was gonna be\u00a0a\u00a0one time thing.<br \/>\nSeveral months later, she traveled to\u00a0California (where I\u00a0live), and we\u00a0ran into each other at\u00a0a\u00a0concert there. We\u00a0weren\u2019t even expecting this at\u00a0all, and she didn\u2019t even know\u00a0I was gonna be\u00a0there. We\u00a0decided it\u00a0was\u00a0<a title=\"fate\" href=\"https:\/\/brightside.me\/tags\/fate\/\" data-link=\"tag\">fate<\/a>, and dated long distance for like 6\u00a0months.<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0almost got hunted by\u00a0a\u00a0puma. I\u00a0kept staring for a\u00a0while before\u00a0I saw\u00a0it.<br \/>\nThank God I\u00a0didn\u2019t make a\u00a0run for\u00a0it, as\u00a0it\u00a0would\u2019ve been my\u00a0initial reaction. Instead, I\u00a0started yelling and cursing and throwing rocks at\u00a0it\u00a0as\u00a0I had been told to\u00a0do\u00a0by\u00a0the locals, and it\u00a0left me\u00a0alone. That night\u00a0I kept a\u00a0fire lit until late in\u00a0the evening and then went to\u00a0sleep with a\u00a0flashlight on\u00a0and my\u00a0knife at\u00a0hand.<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0go backpacking every year in\u00a0the mountains of\u00a0Scotland, and just camp on\u00a0the side of\u00a0the mountain somewhere.
