My stomach dropped.<\/p>\n

Grace handed me a bank trace.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo a private debt consolidation firm. Margaret has a secret gambling addiction. She was facing total financial ruin. Brandon forged your name to steal your equity and save her from public exposure.\u201d<\/p>\n
They had stolen from my home to protect her lies.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat do you want to do?\u201d Grace asked. \u201cWe can go to the police now.\u201d<\/p>\n
I looked out at the city.<\/p>\n

The Blackstone Hotel ballroom was filled with chandeliers, white orchids, champagne glasses, and every important name Margaret worshipped.<\/p>\n
I arrived late.<\/p>\n

I wore an emerald gown and walked in just as Margaret stood onstage, holding a glass trophy.<\/p>\n
