Ethan’s grip on the microphone tightened.
The man beside you spoke with measured calm.
“Good evening, Ethan,” he said evenly. “Do you remember me?”
A Ghost From the Past
Melissa’s composure cracked first.
Her voice rose sharply as she looked between the two men.
“What kind of stunt is this?” she demanded. “Who is he supposed to be?”
You stepped forward, allowing your voice to carry clearly across the room so that every guest could hear the answer.
“He’s the reason Ethan’s hands are shaking right now.”
The man beside you nodded slightly before introducing himself.
“My name is Michael Caldwell,” he said calmly. “Ethan’s older brother.”
The reaction was immediate.
Murmurs spread rapidly across the ballroom as guests exchanged confused glances.
Several people whispered the same stunned question.
“But Michael died years ago.”
Michael did not look away from Ethan.
