Standing immediately to his right were Mark and Vanessa. Mark looked vaguely bored, checking his phone, completely oblivious to the predatory energy radiating from his younger brother. Vanessa, however, was thriving. She lounged against the glass railing in a microscopic designer bikini and a sheer, glittering sarong, absorbing the collective stares of every man in the vicinity. She looked radiant, lethal, and untouchably arrogant. Every time Julian spoke, his eyes darted to her for validation. It was pathetic, but the crowd was too drunk on free alcohol to notice the grotesque pantomime playing out in front of them.
