The day our divorce became official, Dominic Vance walked out of the Manhattan courthouse wearing the smug smile of a man absolutely convinced he had taken everything from me.

The air in the city was thick, heavy with the humidity of late August, but Dominic looked entirely unbothered. He straightened the cuffs of his bespoke Italian suit, a suit paid for by the very company he was currently bleeding dry.
