The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Hayden Panettiere, the actress best known for her memorable performances in Heroes, Nashville, and the Scream film franchise.

New information released by authorities has provided additional insight into the final hours of the 36-year-old actress’s life, although investigators say many questions remain unanswered.

Emergency Responders Were Called to the Residence

According to officials, police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, at approximately 1:51 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Authorities later confirmed that the woman was Hayden Panettiere.

Dispatch audio later obtained by media outlets reportedly included references to an overdose and cardiac arrest. However, officials have not confirmed a cause of death, and investigators continue to examine all available evidence.

Resuscitation Efforts Were Unsuccessful

In an update released by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, officials stated that first responders arrived at the residence and found a woman in cardiac arrest.

Emergency medical personnel immediately began providing advanced life-support measures.

Despite those efforts, medical teams were unable to revive her.

According to the coroner’s office, she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

Authorities also confirmed that Panettiere was found unresponsive inside the residence where she had been temporarily staying.

No Evidence of Trauma Was Found

Investigators emphasized that the case remains active.

A spokesperson for the Greenville Police Department stated that the preliminary investigation found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.

Officials also confirmed that the 911 call was placed by an acquaintance.

An autopsy was completed the following day.

According to Coroner Mike Ellis, no signs of trauma that would have contributed to her death were discovered during the examination.
