Chapter 1: The Ultimatum
The night my husband, Mark, asked for an open marriage, it was raining. I remember the sound of the water lashing against the floor-to-ceiling windows of our pristine, painfully quiet suburban home. We had been married for seven years, and for the last two, a cold, invisible wall had been slowly building between us. Still, I thought we were just in a rut.
