That night, he returned to the garage alone.
He stood beside the engine and stared at the exhaust system.
Something bothered him.
He inspected the muffler carefully.
Then he noticed something strange.
There was a small access panel that hadn’t been there before.
Daniel opened it.
Inside was a handwritten note.
His heart began pounding.
The note said:
“Congratulations, Doctor. You passed.”
Daniel froze.
Doctor?
He looked around the empty garage.
Nobody was there.
He turned the paper over.
On the back was another sentence:
“You thought you were escaping medicine. You were actually being recruited.”
Daniel’s face went pale.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
Unknown number.
He answered.
A calm voice said:
“Dr. Carter?”
“Yes?”
“You’ve proven that your hands can do something nobody else can.”
Daniel stared at the engine.
“What are you talking about?”
The voice replied:
“We’ve been watching you for months.”
Daniel’s stomach tightened.
“Who are you?”
A pause.
Then the voice said:
“We’re not interested in your medical career.”
Another pause.
“We’re interested in your hands.”
The call ended.
Daniel slowly lowered the phone.
He looked at the engine one more time.
And suddenly, the strange 150% grade didn’t feel like a joke anymore.
Because someone had deliberately designed that exam for him.
And someone had wanted to see whether he could perform a procedure…
without using his hands the normal way.
