I never thought a piece of clothing could change the way I saw my entire family.

My mother passed away five years ago after a long illness. She didn’t leave behind expensive jewelry, a large inheritance, or anything valuable that could be sold.

What she left me were memories.

Her handwritten recipes. Old photographs. A few letters.

And one simple blue scarf.

It wasn’t beautiful anymore. The color had faded, and the edges were slightly torn. But it was the scarf she wore on the last winter we spent together.

Before she passed away, she wrapped it around my shoulders and smiled.
