I Found My Daughter and My 5-Year-Old Grandson Sleeping in a Grocery Store Parking Lot—Then She Handed Me a Stack of Documents

The first thing I noticed wasn’t my daughter.

It was the blanket.

It was stretched across the back seat of a faded blue sedan parked in the far corner of a grocery store parking lot outside Columbus, Ohio.

Something about the scene felt wrong.

It was early in the morning, and the parking lot was almost empty. A few cars were scattered near the entrance, but this particular vehicle was tucked away from the lights.

I don’t know why I walked toward it.
