Only an hour earlier, little Elodie had been sleeping peacefully in a clean corner of the linen storage room. Brielle had placed a folded blanket beneath her, moved every heavy object out of reach and checked on her twice during the early dinner shift.
Now the blanket lay empty on the floor.
The storage-room door stood open.
