While I was 3,000 miles away in London, my sister broke into my luxury D.C. penthouse and moved her kids in. “You’ve spent too long being selfish. We live here now,” she texted, backed by my parents. They thought they could just forge a lease and steal my home. They had absolutely no idea I had quietly sold the property weeks ago. And they definitely didn’t know that the man they had just illegally broken in on was about to shatter their dreamy life forever.

The first message arrived at 2:13 in the morning, London time. The only reason I did not panic was because panic has never solved a risk event in its opening phase.
