When I was eight months pregnant, my greedy sister-in-law tried to steal the $150,000 my husband had set aside for our unborn twins while he was overseas. When I refused, she exploded with rage and drove her fist straight into my swollen belly.

Instead…

When Ryan opened the security app…

Nothing.

Patricia had unplugged the recording hub.

Brianna deleted my messages.

She cleaned the kitchen before calling for help.

They had planned far more than simple theft.

Still…

They underestimated me.

I asked Detective Sullivan to recover my phone before Brianna remembered where she’d kicked it.

Then I made one phone call.

“Olivia?”

My former supervisor, Olivia Parker, answered immediately.

Years earlier we’d investigated executives who erased evidence after multimillion-dollar fraud cases.

She knew something most criminals never understood.

Deleting evidence often creates even stronger evidence.

The security camera uploaded encrypted clips every ten seconds.

Disconnecting the hub stopped future recording…

But every clip already uploaded remained untouched on offshore servers.

The recovery key wasn’t stored on my phone.

It was engraved inside Ryan’s wedding ring.

While doctors monitored my recovery and our babies fought inside the NICU…

Olivia restored every recording.

We heard Brianna demanding my signature.

The punch.

My screams.

Patricia entering the house.

Then her chilling words:

“Is it done?”

We even watched Patricia cleaning blood off the floor while wearing rubber gloves.

Detective Sullivan folded her arms.

“Attempted theft.”

“Aggravated assault.”

“Evidence tampering.”

“Conspiracy.”

Ryan looked relieved.

“Arrest them.”

“Not yet,” I replied.

Everyone stared.

“Brianna said ‘tomorrow.’”

“Someone inside the bank is helping them.”

Olivia traced the failed login.

It led directly to a tablet owned by Brianna’s boyfriend…

Assistant branch manager Ethan Carter.

He had prepared replacement authorization documents from Patricia’s home internet connection.

The transfer was scheduled for Friday.

We had exactly two days.

Ryan wanted justice immediately.

I wanted every person involved.

So I texted Patricia from my hospital bed.

I don’t remember exactly what happened. Can you help me fix the account before Ryan finds out?

She answered eleven seconds later.

Of course, sweetheart.

That same night…

Brianna posted champagne photos online.

Caption:

New beginnings.

She thought I had lost my memory.

She had no idea she’d just walked into the trap herself.

PART 3

Friday morning…

Ryan pushed my wheelchair into Ethan Carter’s bank.

Patricia walked beside us, pretending to comfort me.

Brianna followed confidently, carrying forged documents.

Ethan locked the conference-room door.

Lowered the blinds.

“This will only take a minute,” he smiled.

“Mrs. Brooks confirms the transfer, we remove the hold, everyone leaves happy.”
